He is a full professor at the Humanities
Department of Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) and a permanent
member of the Peruvian Academy of Language. He holds a PhD in Linguistics with
a mention in Andean Studies by PUCP. Furthermore, he is the author of the book El
castellano andino norperuano: una historia lingüística y social (The
Spanish of the Northern Peruvian Andes: A Linguistic and Social Account) (Lima,
Fondo Editorial de la PUCP/Instituto de Estudios Peruanos, 2019). His research
areas combine Andean linguistics with the ethnographic and social approach to
the history of languages. He has different publications on Spanish and Quechua
dialectology and on the history of linguistic and cultural contact in the
Andes.
